"The Science of Laughter: Up Close & Personal" (Audio CD) A significant conversational interview between Dr. Lee Berk, pioneer in the scientific research of laughter, and Steve Wilson, founder of World Laughter Tour and Director of National Humor Month. Recorded live at the April 2009 conference of the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor (AATH). This one-hour give-and-take exchange of ideas was presented as a general session program that allowed Berk and Wilson to explore many important ideas. Although widely published in the finest scientific journals, Dr. Berk has rarely been recorded. This historic interview captures his reflections on the historical and contemporary influences that have motivated his work; his family of origin; funding support he received from Norman Cousins; the work of other important scientists; resistance of the traditional medical community; our understanding of the mechanisms by which laughter benefits mind & body; the future of laughter research; hope for the future; and, the philosophical ideas that stir his passion and pursuit of the mysteries of laughter and the positive emotions.
